In recent years Cyprus has become popular with street artists. Street art is no longer considered to create a negative image. In fact, there are regular events all over the island and plenty of art work to admire. These are some of the best places to check out Cyprus street art when you visit.
Limassol (Lemossos)
The Street Life Festival is held annually in Limassol each year. Which means every year there is more and more great work to be found in the area.
If you take a wander, you will find it hard not to find a mural or piece of art work around every corner, at least away from the touristy areas.
Nicosia (Lefkosia)
This divided capital certainly has a good mix of street art and graffiti on both sides of the wall.
The old town is also a good place to find tags and slogan by local artists. Make sure you check out ‘The People of Cyprus’ by Paparazzi.
Larnaca (Larnaka)
Here you will find a street artist in residence, Paparazzi – Achilleas Michaelides. He has a workshop here and is often found planning the next street art event.
His extensive work can be found around every corner, and all over the island too.
Athienou
A village off the tourist trail. There are a handful of artwork here which formed part of the Katsela Project in 2015. Just 20 minutes from Larnaca and worth a quick stop to search them out.
Ayia Napa
Another location for a street art festival in 2019 and a number of other years. Ayia Napa already has a lot of street art scattered around the city. I would recommend exploring the area generally, as it’s certainly not just for those that like to party. The Sculpture Park is another great spot to admire some art, especially at sunset.
Paphos (Pafos)
It’s not just historical ruins that can be found around Paphos. The Street Art Square event in the past has gradually added pieces to the murals that can be found in Paphos old town.
