Almost every day another country hits the headlines with news of international borders re-opening and relaxation of travel restrictions. This makes it difficult to decide where to travel to first. It’s still a bit of a mine field out there and the travel status of a country could change at short notice. Although hopefully for the better.
As a travel blogger that’s been stuck at home for more than 2 years I’m hoping to get things back on track soon. Starting with taking the plunge and leaving the UK for a little trip! More to follow on what I’ve been up to. Spoiler alert: my first UNESCO intangible cultural heritage experience with a festival and some rather bad weather plus a lot of tapas eating ;)!
For those who are debating whether or not to brave a trip of their own I’m happy to report back that other than a bit of extra paperwork and some extra planning, booking and taking a trip was fairly uneventful. It involved a few new [post COVID] experiences but if you are prepared and vaccinated, you shouldn’t experience any issues. However, unfortunately those who are unvaccinated may find access restricted in many places.
Where to go
So, where to travel to first after COVID?
I recommend picking a destination from the list that doesn’t require a COVID test to be taken. The completion of entry paperwork is onerous enough without the added complication and cost of getting a test as well.
I also recommend returning to somewhere you have been before. This is a particularly good choice if you haven’t travelled for sometime and are a bit anxious about what to expect as you can take the trip with less worry. A destination is always great the second time you visit as you can do those things you missed the first time. There’s also the familiarity that comes with having been there before. Most of all it will be interesting to return to a destination to see it again and to experience the post pandemic changes.
I’m certainly weighing up the possibility of a return visit to somewhere I’ve been before. Maybe one of the places from my earlier travels. Honestly, any travel after more than 2 years is a bonus!
Get planning

Visitors to the UK
In case you weren’t already aware. All remaining COVID travel measures, including the passenger locator form and tests for all arrivals, have now been removed in respect of travel to the UK. Which means making plans for friends and/or family to visit is much easier.
The world is opening up again. So I’m hoping to share a little bit more regular travel advice and info from travels. Fingers crossed it stays that way.

Good advice as always
